Background
I am a colorectal surgeon at the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, and hemorrhoids et al. My research focuses on the impact of gut microbiota and neutrophils on inflammatory bowel disease. In the field of gut microbiota, I have a particular interest in probiotics and fecal microbiota transplantation. My research has proven that Akkermansia muciniphila has effective treatment for colitis with depression, which has been granted a national patent in China. Additionally, I firstly confirm that fecal microbiota transplantation is effective in treating Clostridioides difficile infection with inflammatory bowel disease based on meta-analysis. This study has been documented on Wikipedia and cited in clinical guidelines in Europe, Australia, and the United States.
Currently, my research focuses on the epigenetic modifications of neutrophils in inflammatory bowel disease, which has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As a visiting scholar in David Fairlie’s group, I am mainly investigating the impact of PAR2 on goblet cells in mice under the guidance of Professor David.
